Even though Advanced Building Systems introduced the Burke Ground release system to the Australian market in 1982 there still remain a number of engineers and architects who are unaware of the benefits in time and cost savings the Tiltup system offers to their clients. This is not new to Australia as the American Tilt up Association has carried out a survey in America and discovered that even though Tiltup has been a major building system since 1954 there are still architects and engineers who are not involved in there use.

Based on cost analysis of several projects there was found a distinct saving which varied from 15 to 20% against conventional construction.  The question is always raised “how can this be so”?  The answer is reasonably simple.  The building envelope requires the use of semi-skilled labour as against the use brick or block layers whose wage rates are much higher. As well there is no need for scaffolding with other additional accessories as the Tiltup System is built at ground level, then lifted into position using a mobile crane. This means that as soon as the perimeter walls are lifted and temporarily braced the roof can be installed and the fitting out within the building can be completed under cover and away from the weather.

The external walls can be painted as soon as the panels are lifted and braced. A conservative estimate is a time saving of about 18% against conventional construction.

Architects and/or owners

Are sometimes unaware of the of the attractive cosmetic features which can be achieved with Tilt, whereas using conventional construction is just too expensive and too difficult to even contemplate. With ingenuity the cosmetic features can make an unappealing building spring into life and make a statement, which lends identity and character to the owner or occupant.

In America by combining the advantages of low maintenance, durability, speed, minimal capital investment, and architectural appeal, more than 10,000 buildings, enclosing 60 million square metres of structure are constructed each year using Tiltup. Similar proportional growth is occurring in Australia.

Think !! your next building should be in Tiltup.
