TILTBILT

NEWSDESK

December 2001

These days one wonders whether there is such a thing as good news – “THERE IS”!

Tilt-up maintains its reputation as a “FAST”, RELIABLE construction system.

In the United States a tilt-up crew lifted 53 panels of 14.33 metres high and averaging 27t – 36t in one day, which was a panel every 11.5 minutes.

When those who canvass the benefits of Tilt-Up construction, phrases such as “fast track” & “early building occupancy” pervade the conversation.  This is not idle chatter, but facts which make the tilt-up method so attractive to developers, financiers and owner-occupiers alike.

Often, the stories told about aggressive schedules involve a school, high tech office building, shopping centres where the occupancy is critical to meet a specified time frame to catch a market or a time dependent on a deadline.

The building referred to earlier in this article was 60,000 square metres, and 202 linear metres of panels were erected in a 10-hour day.  In other words, the crew, with planning and ingenuity, worked together to complete 247 panels in just 8 days.

When extensive pre-planning is coupled with experienced engineering and construction, the tilt-up process becomes even more efficient, clearly making it the ideal choice of construction method for the design-build team, as well as the owner.

ABS is proud to have introduced the first ground release components to Australia, which allowed the Tilt-Up System to be so eagerly adopted by developers, financiers and builders.

The new SLI III 10t face-lift inserts offer more efficient construction; with cost benefits over the commonly used 5t face-lift inserts.
