Screeds Take the Labour out of Concrete

Working with a Screed

New Franklins building in Ingleburn -
50,000 square metres of flooring!

Developed in the United States the
Allen Power Screed made life easier. Why?

More productivity
Reduces the physical effort on labour.
Provides a finer tolerance.
Produces a quality finish.
Better compaction.
We all look for the easy solution.

How often do you hear today "There isn't the skilled labour around".

They say necessity is the mother of inventions. This is why the power screed was developed. The lack of reliable, skilled personnel to finish.

Why?

Because the Italians of the 50's and 60's are now elderly men. Their children saw how hard they had to work and decided there was easier pickings doing other work.

So as the car replaced the horse the power screed eased the burden for the concretor.

The first power screed used in Australia was designed and manufactured by a man called Glanville in 1983. It was a very complex but good machine, but it did not have the same compaction capacity as the Allen Screed and required poker vibrators.

In 1986 Advanced Building Systems introduced the Allen Screed to Australia. It was used by the Department of Main Road (RTA) on the Stacey Street/Davey Road, Padstow expressway extension. The Department was so impressed, the Allen Screed has been approved ever since for use in DMR (RTA) concrete road pavements.

The Allen Screed also can be fitted with accessories which allows drainage channels, reservoirs and bridgeworks to be constructed.
